How to compress movies with Windows Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker comes with Windows XP. You can use it to convert AVI video captures into WMV files. It's easy once someone shows you how.
1  On the Windows taskbar, click Start / All Programs / Accessories / Windows Movie Maker.

2  In the Movie Tasks pane, in the Capture Video section, click  Import video.

3  Select an AVI video capture and click  Import.

4  Drag the clip from the Collection area to the first cell of the timeline.

5  In the Movie Tasks pane, in the Finish Movie section, click  Save to my computer.

6  In the Save Movie Wizard, choose a new file name, path and click  Next.

7  Checkmark  Other settings.

8  In the Other settings dropdown list, select  High Quality Video.

(large) = 640 x 480 pixels
(small) = 320 x 240 pixels

9  Click  Next.

10  Click  Finish.
