In this issue: -------------------------------------------------------------------- New web browser caution. CaptureWizPro and the royal wedding. -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- New web browser caution. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Several new web browsers are battling for your desktop now, but we suggest waiting for the next version of CaptureWiz before upgrading. In particular, Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4 have display speedups that are incompatible with CaptureWiz’s auto-scroll capture. If you use lots of plugins, like we do, you already know to also wait till your plugins are updated before moving to a new browser. We anticipate a complete rewrite is required, and sorry, it will take months. The good news is once complete, it’ll be a permanent solution, not a bandaid that works only till the next version of Internet Explorer. And if all goes according to plan, the new scroll capture will be super easy to use, have the wonderful flexibility of the old “manual scroll” capture and be very robust. But don’t start buying PixelMetrics stock, nothing is working yet. You might even say it’s just a cool idea. For those who can’t live without the new browsers, we suggest the follow adjustment: 1 On the capture bar, click Settings / Options. 2 On the Options window, click the Scroll tab. 3 Increase “Wait for target repaint” to 1 second, or 2 seconds if needed. The adjustment enables vertical scroll capture in IE9 and Firefox4, but we found horizontal scrolling will be hit or miss. Some may remember we worked with Firefox developers to IMPROVE scroll capture in the next version of Firefox, so what happened? Well they did improve it and early beta versions of Firefox worked great. Our best guess is the Firefox team later added display speedups to take advantage of multiple processors. These split the screen into pieces that update independently and CWP doesn’t handle this change yet. -------------------------------------------------------------------- CaptureWizPro and the royal wedding. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Our London office reports that the horizontal and vertical scroll features got a real workout capturing hats at the royal wedding. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Info -------------------------------------------------------------------- PixelMetrics: http://www.PixelMetrics.com Please send comments and suggestions to my new email address: KingDavid@pixelmetrics.com Newsletter Archive: http://www.pixelmetrics.com/cgi-bin/mojo/mojo.cgi?f=list&l=new To unsubscribe, click here (or copy & paste the address into your browser): http://www.pixelmetrics.com/cgi-bin/mojo/mojo.cgi?f=u&l=new&e=[email]&p=[pin] To subscribe, click here: http://www.pixelmetrics.com/CaptureWiz/CwNewsSub.htm To change your address, first unsubscribe, then follow the link to re-subscribe using your new address.
