Better ways to capture video.

You can use CWP to record anything on your screen, but there may be other methods that are faster or higher quality.

1 When available, downloads are faster than recording, plus they provide an exact copy of the original. Video sites such as Vimeo.com provide download buttons on many videos.

2 For video sites that don’t offer downloads, such as YouTube, there are tools called “video downloaders” that will compile the streamed content into a file for you. We haven’t used them, but we’ve heard good things about “ClipGrab" (free) and “Replay A/V ($49.95)”. If you don’t want to install anything, there are websites, such as keepvid.com or www.clipconverter.cc, where you can enter the URL of the video you want, then the site compiles the file and gives you a link, for free. It's reletively fast and the file is an exact copy of the original.

3 Your video card may include a recorder, and if so, it would be higher quality than any software recorder. If your computer uses a new Nvidia or AMD video card, click the appropriate link below to find out more about this option.

Though it doesn’t appear anywhere, Microsoft includes a video editor with all recent versions of Windows, called Windows Movie Maker. It’s free, but you need to download it as part of the Windows Essential Software Suite:

Use CaptureWiz to mark your place on a page.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
An easy way to keep your place on a page is to drag the capture bar over the document and use it like a bookmark. Alternatively, you could use a sticky note. Better yet, you could capture a ruler from Microsoft Word, or Paint, then select Sticky for the output, and use the sticky as a bookmark, or a ruler! Thank you Steve S. for these clever suggestions.
